Our Program

Chill's Winter Program:
Chill's core youth development program revolves around a six-week curriculum that uses snowboarding to teach life skills and increase self-esteem in participants, at-risk and underserved youth between the ages of 10-18. Our six weekly themes; patience, persistence, responsibility, courage, respect, and pride, provide a framework for learning and personal growth. We use our time on the ride up to the mountain to introduce the weekly theme through an activity, and reinforce the concept during our time on the mountain. This structure allows participants to make meaningful connections to the curriculum while experiencing the innate joy of snowboarding.

Our Program

The Mission of The Chill Foundation is to provide opportunities to underserved youth to build self-esteem and life skills through snowboarding and other board sports.

Additional Opportunities:

While snowboarding is our sport-of-choice, Chill is also beginning to offer opportunities for youth to experience the same personal growth and learning through other board sports such as skateboarding and surfing.  By connecting with youth on a year-round basis, Chill hopes to have an even more powerful impact on participants.

For the first time in 2013, The Chill Foundation offered returning youth in Burlington, VT the opportunity to take their riding to the next level through Chill Freestyle.  Chill recently took over operation of Burlington Freestyle, a youth mentoring program that ran for two seasons as an independent nonprofit organization.   Chill Freestyle pairs youth up with mentors and provides freestyle coaching for participants who have graduated from Chill’s introductory program.

How to get involved:

Chill partners with social service agencies and schools in local communities to select youth participants.  We do not offer individual enrollment but are always looking for great groups to work with.  Please contact us for additional information about getting your group involved.
