We’re all intimately familiar with the consumer frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Immediately following Thanksgiving, prices drop and throngs of turkey and stuffing fueled shoppers take to the stores or internet to load up on all the latest goodies. The word is out, the hype is strong, and yet there’s a third, younger sibling to these unofficial holidays that often goes unnoticed; Giving Tuesday. Beginning in 2012 and falling on the first Tuesday after American Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday was formed for one simple purpose: to be a day that encourages people to do good. Give some of yourself to others, and to make the world a little better than it was before.
Here at Chill, we work to spread the spirit of Giving Tuesday every day of the year. We use boardsports as a vehicle to empower youth to overcome challenges and grow personally through respect, courage, patience, persistence, responsibility, and pride. It’s a mission we strongly believe in, and over the past 24 years we’ve had the privilege of working with more than 25,000 participants across North America thanks to the generosity and support of people like you.
This year, we have the chance to secure at $50,000 matching donation if we raise $50,000 by January 1, 2020. Your support will not only be matched by an anonymous donor, it’ll help us continue to facilitate life changing experiences and spark growth with the youth who need it most.
